Opal Lee, Grandmother of Juneteenth, mission is to share the importance of using your voice to activate change. Juneteenth represents courage, freedom and the journey to equality. 

 

To Opal's tireless efforts and advocacy, on June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. Today, at 95 years old, Opal is still advocating for social justice and equality within Black communities and walking her signature freedom walk. She has also been nominated this year for the Nobel Peace Prize.
