Margaret Smith Perkins, Parliamentarian
Sis. Margaret has been a member of Ward Memorial AME Church since 1970. Some of her responsibilities there include Member of Tullie Quinn Missionary Society [1989]: First Vice President; Secretary, Parliamentarian; and Director of Promotions and Missionary Education; Senior High teacher and Beginner’s Class teacher in Church School, Superintendent of Church School [1991-2000]; Director of Christian Education; Secretary –Quarterly Conference; Financial Secretary – I. Alphonso Miller Scholarship Committee; Member and presenter - J. C. McKinney Lay Organization; and member of the Senior Choir.
Sis. Margaret’s Community Affiliations include: Member National Association of Parliamentarians, past president of District of Columbia Association of Parliamentarians: past president of the McCaskill Unit; Chairman of the Peola H. McCaskill Legacy Scholarship Committee; became a Registered Parliamentarian in July 2021; Life Member of National Council of Negro Women [Parliamentarian of DC Section 2]; Member of the Prince George’s Chapter of Bowie State University Alumni Association; and an alumni and supporter of Virginia State University, supporter of Benedict College, Columbia, SC and supporter of Bennet College, Greensboro, NC.; Supporter of the Maryland Public Television and Member and supporter of the Kennedy Center.
Sis. Margaret received a Bachelor of Arts in History & Political Science from Virginia State University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Bowie State University. She is retired from the federal government after 40 years of service.
Sis. Margaret is a strong believer in Isaiah 40:31 KJV, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
