Carla Cash, Parliamentarian

Sis. Carla has over thirty years of service, in various capacities to the greater DMV communities, in an effort to eradicate hunger and promote overall wellness lifestyles. Currently, she is the newly promoted Executive Director and immediate past Prince George’s and Howard County’s Outreach Coordinator, of Mid-Atlantic Food Resilience and Access Coalition (MAFRAC).

Her team building style and accomplishments are second to none. She directs the work of the Greater Expectations Outreach Ministry Inc. (GEOM) and provides Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training to state and local-level public health-focused coalitions through the Food Rescue US/Howard County, MD. She is a committed advocate for healthier, more equitable and sustainable food systems.

Sis. Carla is passionate about strengthening local food systems and improving under-resourced communities’ access to healthy foods. She has over a decade of experience working on systems-level public health interventions and local food advocacy. Prior to working with Prince George’s County Food Rescue Program, she worked successfully with diverse audiences ranging from school staff, county elected officials, nonprofits, faith and community-based organizations and to policymakers to affect change at the institutional, municipal, county, and state levels.

For the past eleven years, she worked with the Women’s Ministry Societies, a local independent food policy council with diverse members and many nonprofits, to advance county and state-level food and agriculture policies to promote public health, environmental sustainability, and sound economic development in the local food system. She made this a number one priority in March 2020 with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her focus is on organizing communities and to mitigate the food insecurity problems throughout the DMV Area.

Sis. Carla builds networks of mutual aid, prioritizing access to nutritious food for all is her first step. When she is not advocating for fresh food, she spends her time working the food HUBS and delivering food to families in need.

Her favorite Scripture is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
