Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington Day of Service is a special day each year when the members of Reid Temple come together to positively impact our community through meaningful service in partnership with a wide variety of community partners in the DMV. Service to others outside the walls of Reid Temple is key to our evangelism to the community and touching the lives of those in need. This is also a time when Reid Temple ministries join forces to give back to the community. More importantly, it is a time to unite our shared goals of helping those in need.
The Queen Jefferson Missionary Society partnered with the Women’s Ministry and Fishes and Loaves to prepare a hot meal for the residents at New Endeavors by Women. We provided not only a hot meal but blessed each resident with a gift. We also provided prayer upon request.
New Endeavors is a women’s shelter located in Washington, DC. They serve homeless women and families and help them take steps toward greater self-sufficiency and independence. Since 1988, New Endeavors have helped more than 3,000 women and children.
New Endeavors has two family programs which provide both transitional and permanent supportive housing. These programs help to strengthen women’s capacity to build life skills and forge stronger bonds as family units.
In addition to volunteering on the Day of Service, the Queen Jefferson missionaries volunteer throughout the year at this shelter. To God be the Glory for the Great Things He Has Done by touching our hearts to serve his people!
