Hemingway Temple Honors Life Achievements

On Sunday, September 22, 2019, Hemingway Temple’s Edna V. Davis Missionary Society honored life achievements of five awesome missionaries. Missionaries honored were Sister Hattie Parker, Sister Imogene (Emma) Gales, Sister Jean Cox and Sister Esther Thompson. These gentle giants labored continuously with a combined total of over 150 years of performing mission work in their local society, conference, district and international. Highlighted activities were their faithful service to the Homeless/Feeding Program, Thanksgiving Baskets, Angel Tree Projects, Annual Days, Taking It to the Street, Nursing Home Ministries, Hospital and Home Visitations, Sanctuary Beautification and Christmas card distributions to Disabled Veterans.

The day was a blessing to both the congregation and the honorees. A host of family members attended supporting each honoree. The tribute to each honoree consisted of the reading of their biography, a gift of a lovely bouquet and words of thanks and gratitude from our Pastor, Rev. Thann Young and First Lady Rev. Margaret Farr Young.

The spoken word superiorly delivered by Sister Regina Obey of Springfield Baptist Church was based on the Theme: God’s Commission, Our Mission, Our Calling (Matthew 28:18-20). It was a beautiful day and concluded with a fellowship dinner with church family and friends. To God Be the Glory!!!
