By Sis. Trina Pugh. The Lillian M. Dorsey Women’s Missionary Society (LMD WMS) of Union Bethel AME Church, Randallstown celebrated 96 years of service to the community and the world during its Annual Day on September 17, 2023. Our theme was “Missionaries Equipped to Fulfill the Mission” and the Speaker was Rev. Rowena White, Episcopal Supervisor and Pastor of Campfield AME Church.
We bestowed the ‘Missionary Emeritus’ title on five deserving missionaries who had a total of 177 years of service to the WMS. The emeritus title is defined as an honorary title granted to someone who retires from a position of distinction and are still held in high regard for their significant contributions. This title is given as the highest honor to someone who has made some seriously amazing contributions to their field, organization, or community. While these missionaries have not retired, we wanted to take the time to honor them, say thank you, and give them their flowers while they can still smell them.
Three of the five recipients were present at the service and each received an engraved plaque, a beautiful WMS pin and floral bouquets. The missionaries and their years of service are as follows:
Sis. Amanda Bosley – 51 years of service
Sis. Loretta Byers – 9 years of service
Sis. Edna Dorsey – 66 years of service
Sis. Eloise Johnson – 19 years of service
Sis. Mary Johnson – 32 years of service
We sincerely thank you, Emeritus Missionaries, for sharing your time, talents and resources with us, the community and the world. We stand on your shoulders as we continue to work in the mission fields. May God continue to bless you and all that you do!
