Recommitted to the Work

Updated: Jan 5, 2019

On September 29, 2018, members of the WCB WMS gathered to recommit themselves to the work of Christian missions. The Recommitment and Rededication Service was hosted by St. Paul AMEC in Washington DC by Rev. Peter Taylor and WMS President Marshelle Taylor. The theme of the event was "Leadership with Passion, Purpose and Power--An Act of Reverence (Approach-Awareness-Humility)." The Hazel A. Dyson Missionary Choir rendered music for the occasion.

The Guest Speaker was Rev. Latia Suite of Union Bethel AMEC, Randallstown. She preached with power and conviction on the topic of "Committed to the Call" from Romans 12:1-8. She noted that to stay committed to the call you must know that: Your call is connected to your passion; You are called for a purpose; and You are called with power. She reminded us that if we are faithful, then we are committed. All in attendance were blessed by the Word.

Missionaries across the WCB WMS donated items for two Outreach Projects. The Allawadrick and Catherine C. Hemingway Areas donated feminine hygiene products to support the Happy Period Project; while the Matilda Monroe and Celeste W. Duckette Areas assisted Support for Homes by donating household and cleaning items. WCB WMS President Jeanette Hite thanked the missionaries for their generosity for these worthy causes.

The first Annette C. Jones Scholarship Awards were presented to Bro. Kenny G Jr., Sis. Jordan D.

Also in attendance at the Recommitment and Rededication service were WMS International President Dr. Shirley Cason Reed and 2nd Episcopal District President D. Faye Conley. A special thanks was given to Program Chairperson and WCB WMS 1st Vice President Sis. Essie Thompson for the outstanding job in planning and executing the event and to Sis. Kimberly Wiggins, WCB WMS Member at Large, who served as the worship leader.
