In the 1980's Young Life expanded its focus to include kids with special needs and teenage moms, which began the YoungLives program. Young moms are matched with older experienced moms who are committed to providing support and friendship. The teen moms are mentored, empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals and live a future rooted in Christ.
Today, the Young Life mission is still committed to embodying and expressing the love of Christ through relationships with all kinds of kids: WyldLife is outreach to middle schools, Young Life for high school years, Young Life College for college and university students, Club Beyond reaches military teens, Small Towns/Rural initiative brings Young Life to communities of fewer than 25,000 people and Amicus is a student exchange and hosting program for international kids.
The Queen Jefferson Women's Missionary Society of Reid Temple AMEC has a longstanding partnership with YoungLives teen mom program and continues to foster this relationship by volunteering as transportation assistants and class leaders for their local meetings. Our latest initiative was providing the teen mom’s with Mother’s Day baskets and encouraging words of hope and love. The YoungLives Prince Georges County Club meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at Capital Christian Fellowship in Lanham, MD.
