On Sunday, May 19, 2019, the approved and official name of the Missionary Society of Community of Hope AMEC became the Rev. Dr. Nancy T. Lee Missionary Society and was presented to the congregation. The Rev. Dr. Nancy T. Lee Missionary Society's next priority is partnering with Rev. Kini Spady, a daughter of Community of Hope AMEC. She was recently appointed pastor of Bethel AMEC in Suriname, South America. It is our goal to support students attending African Methodist Episcopal schools in Suriname, South America.
We partnered with the Young Adult Ministry, Rev. Keesha Gardner, and Greater Mount Nebo AMEC in sending 90 pairs of glasses to Africa. In addition, during Prayer in the Park at McPherson Square, Downtown D.C., we serviced the homeless community. Our participation included the planning and facilitation of the 2019 “Unity in the Community Outreach Event” in honor of the late Rev. LaVerne Harley. Lastly, the Rev. Dr. Nancy T. Lee Missionary Society’s bi-weekly commitment includes setting up and greeting people who come to the Mobile Market Food Distribution Center.
