Sister Deirdre McNair is a member of St. James AME in Frederick, MD where her husband serves as the Pastor. Sister Deirdre has severed the Women’s Missionary Society in various capacities. She is currently the Local President of the Edna B. Dykes Missionary Society at St. James AME. She has served as the Local President for the Florence Mollock-Katie Adams Missionary Society at Wayman Memorial AME in Baltimore, MD; Recording Secretary for the Matilda Monroe Area; and Recording Secretary for the Allawadrick Area. Currently she serves as the Recording Secretary for the Washington Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society.
Sister Deirdre was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Her faith was nurtured at a young age by her family and by her family church Saint Paul AME of Charleston, SC. Her spiritual growth and service in ministry was further developed as a member for many years at Greater Mt. Nebo AME in Bowie, Maryland. While at Greater Mt Nebo, she served as a Steward, a member of the Stewardship and Finance Committee, and the Bookstore ministry.
Sister Deirdre attended Howard University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, management. Since both of her parents were educators it was a natural fit when she began working at the National Education Association (NEA), a 20-year career that culminated in her position as Manager for Business Affairs for the Government Relations and Campaigns and Elections Departments. She currently works as an Imaging Production Specialist for Iron Mountain.
Sister Deirdre is married to Rev. Richard McNair, pastor of St. James AME and they reside in Bowie, MD. Through her journey in life she has learned to be patient and put her faith in God. Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose.”
